Zusammenfassung: Infektionen von Gelenkimplantaten sind weiterhin eine medizinische Herausforderung. Die Optimierung der perioperativen Prophylaxe und der adjuvanten antibiotischen Therapie für jeden einzelnen Patienten sind daher unabdingbar. Grundlage dafür sind Kenntnisse des Erregerspektrums, der Resistenzepidemiologie sowie der Pharmakodynamik und Pharmakokinetik der Antibiotika.
Summary Prosthetic joint infections are still a medical challenge. Optimization of the perioperative prophylaxis and the adjuvant antimicrobial therapy for every patient are therefore mandatory. For this purpose, knowledge of the spectrum of infecting microorganisms, resistance epidemiology as well as pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of antimicrobial agents are necessary.
