Bei der Versorgung von polytraumatisierten alten Patienten gelten die allgemeinen Schockraumalgorhithmen. Bei der Versorgung sind jedoch die besonderen Gegebenheiten des älteren Patienten mit erhöhter Gefahr der hämodynamischen Instabilität sowie der schlechteren Knochenqualität zu berücksichtigen. Bei der Versorgung der Niedrigenergietraumen liegt der Schlüssel zum Erfolg bei der Stellung der richtigen Diagnose. Hierfür ist die gezielte klinische Untersuchung und adäquate Diagnostik mittels MRT und/oder CT entscheidend. Bei der Versorgung der Sakruminsuffzienzfrakturen scheint die 3D-navigierte perkutane augmentierte iliosakrale Schraube technisch aufwendig, aber vielversprechend, und ist Gegenstand laufender Studien.
